Field repair vs. shop repair
Plenty of truck problems are field repairs: air leaks, brake work, electrical faults, sensors, hoses, batteries, filters, lights and a wide range of component replacements. Internal engine and transmission work, differential rebuilds, frame and structural repair, and anything needing a hoist or press belongs in a shop, and we'll tell you when that's what you're looking at rather than burning hours on the shoulder.
Safety also sets limits. Highway shoulder work happens only where it's safe to work and safe to stop; sometimes the right call is a short move to a pullout, a yard or a gravel approach before anything gets started.
